As Supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction: Science, Performing Arts, Technology, & Library Media Broadcast, I advocate a philosophical understanding of education as such, through an open minded approach. My goal, put simply, is that my work will meet the hopes of students and staff as we teach and learn.
After an international career in the hospitality industry, I returned to school and worked on campus of Montclair State University. This led into employment at Tenafly Public Schools as library media specialist 1996 (promoted to Supervisor 2006) and charged with bringing its library to 21st century. I rethought 20,000 sq. feet and determined a traditional library space needed innovation to best serve the hopes of our students. With excellent abilities to solicit donors, hundreds of thousands of dollars of equipment & grants were obtained and and embedded a professional TV studio in the library’s center, transforming the library into a center of media production, communication, and interdisciplinary faculty support, with a robust web presence. Over over 20,000 print titles serve as a strong foundation in tradition in Tenafly High School’s Lalor Library Media Center.
Over the years, the library space transformed itself into the heart of the school. This new model provides all students practical experience within the foundation of a traditional library. Each day we welcome and serve over 1000 students and staff. Each year we welcome visits from interested school districts; from Korea, from Israel, and from across the USA.
In 2019, I was assigned additional responsibilities in the areas of science, performing arts, and technology. It gives me great pleasure to support these all-important areas of education for Tenafly High School students!
