MEDIA ADVISORY – PHOTO, VIDEO, PRINT OPPORTUNITY

Twelve Area Middle Schools to Compete in Tenafly High School’s First Young Girls and Boys Engineering Competition

WHAT: Tenafly High School will host 12 teams of students from surrounding middle schools for a landmark engineering and design (STEM) competition designed to promote female participation and careers in engineering fields. Teams will be made up of 6 students between grades 6-8. Teams must be comprised of at least three girls. Each team will be provided with materials and 3 hours to design and build a prototype to solve a problem. The competition prompt will be revealed on the day of the competition. Each team will be judged on their documentation, CAD drawings, prototype, and presentation. Prior to the competition, guest speakers from Society of Women Engineers and Turner Construction Company will speak. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
